I think I'm going to shoot for 10 sessions for this campaign. I talked to OtherTim the other day in a Google+ Hangout and that is what we came up with.
I need to do more campaign prep of course, but that gives the campaigns I'm in at the time to finish up.

I sent out an email about the campaign. Hello Phil, Alex, Alex, and Rogier, You all said that you were interested in playing in my Skype Wars setting NWOD campaign and I figured that I would use both email and the forum to contact and keep you guys updated on the progress of the campaign. I'm still working on things but I am making some progress. The holidays made it more difficult to get stuff accomplished. I haven't heard back from Nathan if he wants to play so I will just assume you guys are going to sign up and if he wants to jump in later he can. If he doesn't jump in I may ask someone else to play. samwise7.freeforums.net/board/17/timJust a reminder that this is the forum, and please sign up there and post your character if you have been working on it. I helped Rogier make his character and then afterward realized that it would have probably been best to try to get everyone together first to talk about their character's roles on the ship. We can have some overlap though, as that is often a good thing to have when you are alone as a group in space. Also, I wanted to find out what time of the day on Saturday that you guys can all play. I think Rogier is most comfortable playing at 1PM - 4PM EST (when we play the ASOIAF game now) but I was hoping to maybe play a little earlier than that. What is the earliest that you can play Rogier? When can the rest of you play? I also figured it would be good to have a little Social Contract type of chat. How do you want me to run the game, what sort of things are you looking to have in the game, the style of the game, etc. This would probably be done best in a chat, but we can do it via email too. Just remember to hit Reply All or include all of the email addresses so that everyone is included in the conversation. I have been working on the Kizen powers for the last several days. I organized them into trees by "levels" and the next step will be to figure out which ones you guys will start to manifest. Once you make your characters I will have a good idea which ones will be appropriate, but I also thought about giving ones that don't have much to do with your character concept. I sort of like the idea of a character manifesting powers in an area that they don't have much experience in. If you guys have any thoughts on that aspect of the game let me know. Rogier liked the idea of being able to manifest them without a dice roll. We can do that. I did put a Kizen skill on the character sheet but I may be able to use that in a different way once play starts. Any general comments, concerns, etc. that you have feel free to chime in. I was thinking of trying to give away more narrative control in this game, but I'm not sure yet. Any thoughts on that? That's all for now, Tim

Hello everyone! =) Glad for the opportunity to hang out with you all! Just some background on me:
I have been table top gaming, since my sophomore year of high school (mid 80's). I have always loved sci fi and fantasy books and films and was introduced to AD&D by a long-time friend of mine. I have been a player or GM in just about every rpg I could get my eager hands on (mainly a GM). Every and anything d20-based and it's derivatives (modern and fantasy), OWoD, BASIC, GURPS, Cortex, Savage Worlds, RuneQuest, FASERIP, Fate, and many lesser-known games.
I have been doing all of my gaming online, for the last 3 years, or so. My long-time gaming group is spread out all over the Midwest, so the chances of us all meeting up in person is next-to-none, unfortunately. And with schedules, kids and work- well you guys know. Initially we used Skype, along with MapTools and Obsidian Portal; then we switched to Roll20 and Google Hangouts.
Lastly, I have a YouTube channel that I use to (very sporadically) post rpg and pc gaming stuff. And that's my gaming history and info, in a nutshell!
So anyway, I could use some input, as far as the type of character I should make. I am digging into the Wars "fluff" and will use that as a general guide, other than what Tim has posted on the forums. If I don't get too many interruptions today, I should at the least, have a character concept ready to post.
As far as the whole "Social Contract" goes, since I haven't gamed with anyone here before (and am the newbie), I prefer to get a feel for they style of gaming you guys prefer and go with the flow. I am a pretty easygoing person, so things would have to be pretty over-the-top for me to not enjoy myself. I don't have a problem with sensitive topics, as long as they are justified in the narrative of the game. And as we all are mature adults, I should be cool with whatever Tim comes up with. I have listened to some of Tim's posted gaming sessions and enjoyed them.
Also, having run and being currently a player in a Fate Core game, I am all about narrative control being given to the players! That's a thumbs up from me.
Hope I didn't come across as being too serious. I am very excited to get into the Wars universe and am looking forward to gaming with you guys!

I added you to the email chain David and hopefully we will get all of the cat herding done and get everyone together soon for a group chat about the game, about the characters, the types of things people want to include, the style of the game, etc.

Today I'm going to try to put in some flashback scenes from your characters' backgrounds. Perhaps some of the other players and myself can get involved in the role-playing of those scenes too. We shall see. I'm going to do that stuff right out of the gate I think and then get to the 3D Cloning Printer.

Long Veer.
What does he look like?
6'2" with a powerful frame (230lbs) Not a single piece of hair on his body, a Side effect of the Reform implant. His face is scarred from the implant and he has an odd bump on the back of his neck... small price to pay for freedom.
Now that he is free of the reform implant; he always wears the stealth shroud, though sometimes covered over with one of his jumpsuits when doing repairs, his high military shined boots and he goes no where without his utility belt containing his tech tools. A keen observer will notice that all the pouches have been shifted to the right side as if to make room for something on his left hip but at the moment it remains empty.
When entering into battle he pulls the hood over his head and straps Jylan's Katana to his back. This is a non traditional place for holding a single katana, some might question why. He has never been seen using a gun of any kind but shown proficiency with both Katana and Jiu Jitsu. Recently dark circles have appeared under his eyes and his cheeks look hollow, those who inquire learn that he hasn't been sleeping well and he claims that he is exhausted, but those who see him moving the 400 pound robots around with ease might think differently. Those who inspect him closely will notice that he tends to grimace in pain and hold his forehead, every once in a while when he believes no one is watching.
He is normally pleasant, calm and respectful, even when accusations are bandied about. He always has a good word to say about anyone on the ship when asked and has showed a commitment to risk his own life to save others. Whether that is left over Rehab tech working on his brain or a true spark of some courage he may have will be determined in the future.
He is well aware that his appearance is disconcerting and readily speaks about it if asked. "Putting it in the open is the best way to deal with it, not like I had a choice with the way I look."
He is also aware that he is a criminal and was introduced to everyone that way. " I am not sure if everything you were told about me is true, yet, but I assure you I did kill people in the name of my beliefs and in self defense, which of us hasn't? Aka Kuwai is a part of me now and so is LV-426 but I am at this moment, someone different. Like a Hydra from ancient texts, I have many heads, LV-426, Aka Kuwai, warrior, Doctor, Scientist, engineer... in time I hope to find the dragon, Long Veer."

Thanks for posting that up John, I've grown to really look forward to seeing all of the characters during the course of the game shine, and have a moment of role-playing in the sun. I loved his retorts today when he was questioned about his actions.

I needed to do something since I missed most of the game yesterday. hehe
Forgot to mention "Aka Kuwai" is Japanese for "Red Scare" loosely translated.
