So here is a picture of how the castle looks and how the town is laid out. With half an hours notice you could speedily rush the townsfolk into the castle if they leave their provisions behind. Within an hour they would be able to bring their own food and supplies. There is a siege horn that would make everyone in town aware to get into the castle. One long loud blow for a quick retreat into the castle, two loud shorter blows to get provisions and enter the castle. (Side click and click and view image for larger picture)
As far as defense goes you have 100 veteran guerrilla troops with abilities in stealth, archery and fighting dispersed around the castle enough so that if an army was approaching you would be well aware unless the army is small and stealthy. While the guerrillas are versatile their strength lies in ambushes and ranged attacks on hilly terrain.
You also have a half unit of 50 peasant levies trained with pikes and spears.
The walls around the castle are 18 feet high and have a walkway all around it. The towers are 30 feet tall and the keep is 25 feet high. The hill itself is 60 ft tall. All in all it is imposing to any form of invading army. The weak points are the gates which are wooden and enforced with iron, a beam is needed on the inside to hold them shut. There is no portcullis.
Should disaster strike there is an escape tunnel behind Aaron Cytell the first of the Cytells located within the crypt. His statue is made of stone but is weak at the knees, breaking the statue would give access to the shadowed tunnel behind him which while cast in absolute blackness leads out of the castle in the direction of Orphan Hill.
Main Characters still in the Fist on the Hill: Bertin, Brian, Lyneth Frey Cytell, Tanya Osten, Septon Weston, Gareth the Castellan
Main Characters with Roland out in battle: Roland Cytell, Pedr Cytell, Alban, Wyn Rivers, Adrian Osten
Ser Meilyr Hosfeld is in Stoney Sept to inform the city of its dangers and spruce up a defense, Ser Alasteir Creed has returned to Caster Hall looking for possible support troops there.
